Lewis, Kaufman, Reid, Stukey, Gattis & Co., P.C. (LKRSG) traces its roots back to 1956 when Alex H. Williams moved from Lubbock to open a Certified Public Accounting firm in Muleshoe.
Out of that firm, Alex's son Don Williams moved to Plainview in 1977 and the firm has grown to 16 people in 2011. The current stockholders, Martin Lewis, Randy Kaufman, Thad Reid, Lea Stukey, and Lori Gattis have over 100 years combined experience with the firm.
LKRSG has developed a strong reputation for excellence and innovation. Commitment to continual education, strict confidentiality, and high professional standards has contributed to that reputation. Although LKRSG provides many of the modern technologies and services of a large firm, we maintain our "small-firm" atmosphere, valuing the personal relationships we have with our clients.
The firm serves a diverse client base, and has developed significant expertise in agriculture, banking, restaurants, and the medical industry. Our goal is to provide our clients with the highest quality service in a friendly, personal atmosphere.
The Partners
Certified Public Accountant
Mr. Lewis joined Lewis, Kaufman & Co., P.C. in 1983. Prior to joining the firm, he developed his accounting skills working for Mesa Petroleum Company working on joint interest billings and off-shore operations.
Martin received his Bachelors degree in Accounting with emphasis in Petroleum Accounting, from Texas Tech University in 1982. He also served as a former adjunct professor at Wayland Baptist University.
Over the years, Martin has been involved in management consulting for a wide variety of West Texas clients. He has developed a recognized specialty in the agricultural, financial institution & healthcare industries, including single and multi-physician medical practices. Mr. Lewis has contributed to the growth of the firm and is deeply committed to client service and to the personal and professional growth of his associates. Martin was elevated to stockholder in 1991.
Mr. Lewis has been very active in the professional accounting field, having active memberships for a number of years with the American Institute of C.P.A.s, Texas Society of C.P.A.s, National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives and the Management of Accounting Practice - West Texas Chapter.
Martin and his lovely wife, Trina, attend Harvest Christian Fellowship. He enjoys working out and spending time with his three adult children, friends, and family.

Mr. Kaufman joined the firm of Lewis, Kaufman & Co., P.C. as an employee in 1987. He became a CPA in 1991 and a partner in 1997. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has many years of experience with individual and business tax planning and preparation including farmers, grain elevators, cotton gins, manufacturing companies and non-profit organizations, including churches. His experience also includes estate tax planning, partnership and corporate tax planning as well as audits of financial statements.
Mr. Kaufman received his Bachelors degree with Distinction in Accounting from Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, Texas in 1991. He also received an Associate of Arts degree from Hesston College, Hesston, Kansas in 1979.
Mr. Kaufman has been very involved in the Plainview community. He is a past president and current treasurer of the Board of Directors of Plainview Christian Academy. He serves as the assistant secretary of the Board of Trustees of Wayland Baptist University. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce and was president in 2005. He is the baseball treasurer and a past president of the Plainview Noon Optimist Club. He is a former budget committee member for the Plainview Area United Way and is a 100% Fair Share Giver. He is a former member of the boards of the Salvation Army and the YMCA. He is the treasurer of the Plainview Camp of Gideons International. He is a member of First Baptist Church, Plainview and is a deacon, choir member, Sunday school teacher and has served on various committees including finance, prison, activities, worship and evangelism.
God has blessed Mr. Kaufman with a great family in which he has a lot of pride. He married his lovely wife Carol (formerly Tapp) in 1979. He was born and raised in Indiana but she was raised in Plainview so she brought him to Plainview after their wedding. They have three beautiful married daughters and three grandsons. His hobbies include participating and watching sports of all kinds, reading, listening to music, yard work, minor remodeling and being a handyman around the house.

Thad Reid, CPA, has been with the firm since July of 1990 and became a partner in 2007. Thad has over 20 years of tax and accounting experience providing clients with a variety of tax planning, payroll tax and accounting services including audits, reviews, compilations and directors' exams. He has developed a recognized specialty in farm taxation.
Serving the needs of his clients has always been Thad's priority. Thad works closely with clients and staff members to prepare and supervise the preparation of corporate, partnership, retirement plan, not for profit, and individual income tax returns. His clients have included farmers, medical practices, rental real estate and various service industries.
Thad is also a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and is able to assist you with QuickBooks from just getting started to cutomizing QuickBooks to achieve your goals.
His professional associations include membership in American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
A 1990 honors graduate of Wayland Baptist University, Thad earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring in Accounting with a minor in Computer Information Systems.
Thad is an active member of the First Baptist Church where he enjoys leading the Royal Ambassador program. He has also been a volunteer and Division Group Leader for the Plainview Area United Way.
Thad and his wife Amy have two sons, Travis and Trevor. In addition to his family, Thad's interests include playing golf, tennis and basketball.

Lea Stukey joined the firm in January of 1991. Lea is a Plainview native who got her Bachelor's Degree from West Texas A&M University. She became a CPA in 1994 and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Texas Society of CPAs. She became a partner in January of 2011.
Lea enjoys getting to know her clients and helping them find solutions to their business concerns. Her goal is to provide the support her clients need to make their businesses more successful.
She has extensive tax planning & preparation experience with farm & ranch operations, as well as manufacturing, construction, and professional service industries; medical and dental practices; restaurants and retail establishments; hotels, real estate rental, and investment companies. Her tax practice includes individuals, corporations, S- corporations, partnerships & joint ventures, trusts, non-profit organizations, and estate tax engagements.
She provides federal and state tax preparation, payroll work, QuickBooks consulting, and general accounting services, along with consultation and tax planning strategies. She also performs financial statement compilation, review and audit services.
Lea serves as secretary on the school board of Plainview Christian Academy, is an active member and Sunday School teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and is a member of the Plainview Noon Lions Club.

Lori Gattis, CPA, graduated from Texas Tech University in December 1991 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring in Accounting. She began her career working in the accounting department for privately owned companies in the panhandle. She then worked for an accounting firm in Lubbock for two years before returning to her hometown of Plainview to join Lewis, Kaufman & Co., P.C. in 1996. Lori became a CPA in 1997 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Lori enjoys helping clients with tax planning during all phases of their lives from starting businesses to planning their transition into retirement. She has extensive experience working with clients in many different industries including farm and ranch, construction, farm equipment dealerships, rental businesses, medical practices and nonprofit organizations. She is experienced in planning and preparing individual, corporate, partnership and nonprofit tax returns. She will also prepare payroll reports, state tax returns, franchise tax returns, compiled financial statements and assist with bookkeeping support in using Quickbooks or other bookkeeping software. Lori welcomes the opportunity to meet new clients and help with all their tax planning and business needs.
Lori believes in serving the community she and her family call home. She is currently the Treasurer of La Mesa Elementary PTA. She is a past board member of Soroptimist International of Plainview. She and her family attend First United Methodist Church of Plainview where she has served on the following committees: finance, audit and staff parish relations committee and where she volunteered in the children's after school program.

Carolee has experience with a variety of clients. Her many years of work experience give her a strong background in customer service, bookkeeping and payroll. Her greatest reward is hearing from clients about ways their lives have changed and evolved. Gay Chrisman, one of the friendly faces you'll meet in our front office, has been with the firm since September 2001. She is an administrative assistant and is responsible for the firm's payroll and accounts payable. She also assists in answering the phone and greeting clients when they come in.
A graduate of Friona High School, Gay earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University in 1983.
She and her husband, Nathan, married in 1981 and have two grown children and two grandsons. They are members of College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview. She enjoys watching movies, shooting targets, riding motorcycles, camping in the mountains and other family activities.
Andrea DeLeon has been with the firm since August 2009. She has experience in farming/ranching & small businesses related issues, accounts payable, and payroll.
A graduate of Plainview High School, Andrea graduated with honors and received an Associates of Applied Science in Accounting from South Plains College in 2005, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Specialization in Accounting from Wayland Baptist University in 2009.

In her 13 years of tax and accounting experience, Brenda has worked with various types of clients. Her experience ranges from the preparation of payroll, individual, and corporate income tax returns to tax planning and some audit work.

One of the first friendly faces you will meet in our front office or on the phone is Freeda Henderson, a secretary, who has been with the firm since 1997.
A graduate of Silverton High School, Freeda also attended West Texas State University and Wayland Baptist University.
Freeda has a poodle named Maddie Grace. Now, Maddie Grace is the neighborhood watchdog, she rules Freeda's house and thinks she is human - she doesn't understand that she is a dog.
Freeda enjoys yardwork, crafts, reading and keeping up with her grand-godkids.
Senior Staff Accountant Jack Hysinger has been with the firm since 1973. He has encountered many and varied accounting situations. His approach has always been balanced by the opinion that the only dumb question is the one not asked.
Jack believes that no one masters the accounting profession, but he has areas of expertise and the available resources to address most issues.
Jack earned his BBA in Accounting from North Texas State University.

Senior Accountant Cassie McLain has been with the firm since January of 2001. A native of Plainview, Cassie graduated summa cum laude from Wayland Baptist University in May of 2001earning her BBA with a specialization in accounting.
Although Cassie has over 10 years of tax planning and preparation experience involving a myriad of different business industries, she currently specializes in medical and dental practices, investment companies, rental real estate, and retirement planning. Her tax preparation experience includes individuals, corporations, S-corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, non-profit organizations, and various state income tax returns.
In addition to tax preparation, Cassie provides payroll services, QuickBooks consulting, financial statement compilation, and other various accounting services. She has also performed many directors’ exams for commercial banks.

Senior Accountant Florinda (Flo) Mendoza-Champion has been with the firm since August 2002. In addition to her public accounting experience, she has been the assistant controller of a car dealership. Florinda graduated from Wayland Baptist University with an Associate degree in 1999 and Bachelor degree with specialization in accounting in 2000.
Florinda has nine years of tax and accounting experience. She works closely with clients, partners and staff members to both prepare and supervise the preparation of corporate, partnership, not for profit, and individual federal income tax returns. She also prepares Texas franchise tax reports, payroll tax reports, and financial statements. In addition, she assists with Directors’ exams for commercial banks.
